ABOUT SIX FLAGS
For seven years, I was the PR manager at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. During that time, I was responsible for publicizing the introductions of new capital, developing park guides, planning and executing media events and coordinating photo shoots.
We worked with media from a dozen Midwest markets to promote the park throughout the region. Our publicity efforts also encompassed show auditions, park-wide hiring and summer internships, senior employees, contests relating to new capital introductions, and an annual, month-long Halloween event.
Among the most fun events I've ever planned was planning and throwing a mass wedding for 100 couples who wanted to "Take the Plunge" on our new freefall tower ride. My staff and I coordinated media (and couples) from throughout the Midwest for this monumental PR event!
